GuessTheCountry ("we", "us") is a free browser trivia game. This page explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We aim to collect as little as possible.
We use local storage to remember gameplay preferences (e.g. whether Endless Mode is unlocked) and your authenticated session. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising. If Google Analytics or AdSense are enabled by the site operator, those services set their own cookies as described in their policies.
When enabled, we use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization to understand aggregate usage (page views, game starts, completions). You can opt out via browser settings, ad-blockers, or Google's opt-out add-on.
The app reserves space for future ads via Google AdSense. When enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, as described at Google Ads Policies.
Your username, country, score, level, and streak may appear publicly on the Leaderboard. If you don't want this, don't submit scores or delete your account.
Account and score data are kept until you request deletion. Server logs are rotated on a rolling basis.
You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal data, and object to processing. EU/UK residents have rights under GDPR; California residents have rights under CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information. Contact us at the email on the Contact page.
The service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be highlighted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
